Exhibition of Textiles and mixed media to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the death of Bess of Hardwick 1608-2008 to be held at the Hardwick Park centre 2nd to 13th April 2008.
InSPIREation 21 is a Chesterfield-based group of like-minded embroiderers who meet on a monthly basis for a full day of inspiration, mutual support, teaching, stitching and companionship. Their name was chosen because there are 21 members meeting within sight of Chesterfield’s Crooked Spire. Friends, who were looking for a local group with vision in textiles and stitch, first formed InSPIREation in 2001.The group was formed initially with sixteen members but in a short space of time this number increased to 21 and now has a lengthy waiting list. Guest speakers are also invited to add fresh ideas, and regular workshops encourage modern thinking and a hands-on approach to a craft, which dates back centuries. Member’s skills include Spinning. Weaving, Pottery, Engineering and Accountancy amongst many others!
The group regularly exhibit, the first taking place in 2004 at Mansfield Museum, followed in 2005, 2007 and 2008 at Hardwick Park.
